There are healthy populations that consume coconuts or coconut oil and a gathering number of research papers indicating that this is the healthiest oil in the world.
Dr Mary Enig cited an early epidemiological study of a group of Pacific Islanders where the population ate only coconuts, fish and taro (a root vegetable) and found that they were extremely healthy with no western diseases. Part of this population moved to New Zealand and changed to a western diet and eventually developed western diseases.
